In May 2017 the apprenticeship levy commenced for all employers with a pay role of more than £3m.
This means you are now contributing to the cost of apprenticeship training in England whether you employ an apprentice or not. If you are paying the levy then you have the ability to design & control your workforce development apprenticeship programme.
Apprenticeships are offered in a wide range of sectors and occupational areas, from Aerospace to Zoo Keeping and Administration to Welding so you will find an apprenticeship pathway that fits your business needs.
At West Yorkshire Learning Providers, we have the expertise and fully understand apprenticeships and skills and therefore can help to support you in understanding the levy, help plan your workforce development programme and identify training needs across your business. In addition we can help you calculate & plan your levy forecasted spend and signpost you to high quality, flexible & talented training providers.
WYLP is already working with many employers across the region to support them through their levy experience. At WYLP we do not directly deliver training, our purpose is to support the sector and represent our members locally, regionally and nationally and therefore can offer employers an impartial package of training that meets your needs. We work in partnership with local colleges, training providers, local authority, HE institutes and The Leeds City Region LEP to ensure the apprenticeship & skills sector within Yorkshire is a high quality service to employers and learners.
Levy Employer quote – WYG - www.wyg.com
I contacted WYLP as an employer who was trying to understand the intricacies of the new Apprenticeship Levy Scheme. The new system is a huge learning curve for everyone and I was very fortunate to discover WYLP was available to myself.
The advantage of using WYLP is that they can give informed, unbiased advice about everything about the whole Apprenticeship system. This can be from finding the right candidates, and how to go about doing so, to understanding and using the new Digital Account System.
I found Alex to be extremely knowledgeable but in a way that was not patronising at all. Something I very much appreciated as someone who was completely new to Apprenticeships. However she is also happy to learn new information from other sources.
Alex always responds quickly to any requests I may have, which is essential in this fast paced environment.
Thank you Alex and WYLP!
