Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge for Schools Project summary for schools and colleges

The ASK project has been commissioned by the National Apprenticeship Service, part of the Education and Skills Funding Agency, to support the Government’s target of achieving 3 million apprenticeship starts by 2020.

Through the project WYLP will offer a range of inspirational and engaging apprenticeship and traineeship support to all learning establishments offering provision to years 10, 11, 12 and 13 across West Yorkshire.

The project aim is to work with teachers, careers advisors, parents and governors, alongside other key partners, to support schools and ensure that they meet their statutory duties regarding the provision of impartial IAG, specifically in relation to apprenticeships and traineeships.

The services to be provided include:

  • Group assemblies / information sessions
  • Sessions to sign students up to Find an apprenticeship
  • Staff (teacher/careers advisor) CPD sessions
  • Apprenticeship champion training for teachers and careers advisors
  • Parent events
