West Yorkshire Learning Providers, WYLP is the largest network of learning providers operating in Yorkshire and the Humber, formed in 2003 to be the voice of the providers in strategic partnerships at Regional and at district levels. WYLP is a membership organisation promoting a strong and vibrant single network of providers acting on their behalf to promote world-class Apprenticeships for young people and adults and supporting the delivery of the Train to Gain service. WYLP is there for learners, employers, providers and for stakeholders working in partnership to help create a world-class skilled workforce and to equip individuals with the vocational qualifications that employers demand.
WYLP is a membership organisation representing the network of learning providers in West Yorkshire. The company was formed in December 2003 by collaborative arrangement of the work based learning providers and with the support of the Learning and Skills Council. Our mission is “to be the key influence in raising the quality and image of vocational learning in West Yorkshire in order to change the lives of learners and to develop the economic and social environment” WYLP is committed to the development and maintenance of a strong and vibrant single sub-regional network structure for work based learning providers able to communicate effectively with all its members, stakeholders and partnerships in West Yorkshire. WYLP recognises the importance of working within the local partnerships at district level and to support this approach WYLP has four local networks: Leeds, Bradford & District, Wakefield and Calderdale & Kirklees. Any organisation contracted or sub-contracted to deliver work based learning in West Yorkshire is eligible to become a member of WYLP. THE VISION FOR WEST YORKSHIRE LEARNING PROVIDERS We will know that our vision has been realised when by 2007 we will - Be part of a forum with all key related organisations to improve, devise and implement Vocational and Work Based Learning strategies for West Yorkshire that lead to the maintenance of a viable 14 to 19 Phase for Young People
- Have credible representation on every Vocational Learning related forum at local regional and national level
- Be recognised as the organisation of choice for consultation and discussion on Vocational and Work Based Learning in West Yorkshire by LSC, ALP and other influencing bodies.
- Able to demonstrate a higher quality in the provision of Work Based Learning through improved ALI grades and outputs.
- Have effectively engaged schools across West Yorkshire and ensured that Work Based Learning is the pathway of choice for Vocational Learning and improved learner participation
- Have effectively engaged employers across West Yorkshire in the investment of skills by ensuring Work Based Learning provision is responsive to the needs of employers and to the learner.
- Have activities funded from various sources (public, private, provider and employer funding) and be a sustainable organisation with the capability to deliver its aims and mission and to respond to stakeholders and partnerships.

- To be a key strategic partner with stakeholders in vocational learning and work in collaboration with other partners in the post-16 sector and the 14 to 19 agenda
- To promote and support economic development and social environment strategies and their partnerships in West Yorkshire
- To promote quality in work based learning through continuous improvement initiatives and to support the development and capacity of learning providers and the network.
